As of Shvat 5767, February 2007, a full fifty years - a veritable Yovel - will have passed since the first appearance of Hadarom, the estimable Torah Hebrew print journal proudly published on an annual basis by the Rabbinical Council of America. The journal has been edited with great distinction, first by the late Rav Chaim Dov Chavel zt”l, (from its founding in 5717 until 5742), and since then by (yibadel le'chaim tovim ve'arukim) Rav Gedaliah Dov Schwartz, Av Bes Din of the Bes Din of America and of the Chicago Rabbinical Council. During that time, as published in 75 issues, hundreds of worthy articles have appeared in its pages, covering halacha le'maaseh (practical law), chiddushei Torah (Talmudic insights and novellae), iyyunim in Aggada and Midrash (aggadic and midrashic elucidations), and book reviews. These have included important articles by Maran Harav Yosef Dov Soloveitchik, zt”l, and others.

Starting with the current issue (Volume 76), we are pleased to be publishing Hadarom in an on-line format. The advantages of utilizing the new technology of the Internet include opening its contents to a vast audience of new readers, and thereby giving Hadarom an expanded impact and prospect as we look to the future. It also streamlines the publications process, and allows for significant financial savings. Readers are encouraged to download and print out the articles of Hadarom. Indeed we have every reason to hope that a new generation of authors will come to the fore, given the expanding universe of the new format of Hadarom.
We, and the entire Torah world, are deeply indebted to Harav Schwartz for his tireless and extraordinary effort and expertise in bringing this issue, as well as preceding issues, of Hadarom to see the light of day. At the same time, we commend and congratulate all of the distinguished authors whose Torah thoughts are hereby presented for the benefit of our readers.
