Feb 6, 1997 -- Rabbi Adam Mintz, Senior Rabbi of the Lincoln Square Synagogue, chairman of the Conference has announced a very stimulating and exciting program. "We are privileged to welcome such outstanding spokesmen for Orthodoxy to our program", stated Rabbi Mintz.

Rabbi Michael Rosensweig, Rosh Yeshiva, RIETS, Yeshiva University will open the Conference at 10:15 a.m. with a shiur on "The Nature of Rabbinic Authority Reflected in the Institution of Smeikha".

At 11:15 a.m., Rabbi Gedalia Dov Schwartz, Rosh Beth Din, Beth Din of America and Chairman of the Rabbinical Council of America Halakhic Commission will present a shiur "Does Halakha Permit in Certain Situations The Partial Observance of Mitzvot?". This shiur will surely contain many practical applications.

After a luncheon commencing at 12:15 p.m., and greetings by Rabbi Rafael G. Grossman, President of the Rabbinical Council of America, at 1:15 p.m., Rabbi Zalman Posner, Rabbi of Congregation Sherith Israel, Nashville, Tenessee, for over four decades will speak on "Defining Orthodoxy: The Most Pluralistic in the Jewish World".

At 2:15 p.m., Dr. Haym Soloveitchik, University Professor of Jewish History and Literature, Yeshiva University, will present his thoughts and lead "A Discussion on The Transformation of Contemporary Orthodoxy."
