News Headlines
Sep 30, 2005 -- At a pivotal moment in US history, the Rabbinical Council of America extended its congratulations and blessings to Chief Justice John Roberts, minutes after he was sworn in as the 17th Chief Justice of the country.

Rabbi Basil Herring, Executive Vice President of the Rabbinical Council of America, was present at the White House for the swearing in ceremony led by President George W. Bush, and a little while later took the opportunity, on behalf of the RCA, the nation’s largest group of Orthodox rabbis, to greet and bless Justice Roberts. He told the Chief Justice that the group had every confidence in him, that it prayed that God would bless him with extraordinary wisdom, uncommon virtue, and distinguished leadership of the Judiciary of the United States in the years and decades ahead, for all of its citizens of every faith. Justice Roberts in turn thanked Rabbi Herring, and through him Rabbi Dale Polakoff, President of the organization, for testifying on his behalf during the confirmation hearings of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
