Apr 19, 2007 -- Ordained at Yeshiva University’s affiliated Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary and graduate of Yeshiva College, Dr. Schnall received his master’s degree in Jewish studies from the Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies and earned a master degree and PhD, both in political science, at Fordham University.

After serving as professor in the department of public administration at Long Island University for 12 years, Dr. Schnall was appointed to the Herbert Schiff Chair in Management and Administration at Yeshiva University’s Wurzweiler School of Social Work in 1991. He had been an adjunct and visiting professor at the Wurzweiler School since 1985. He has served as the Dean of the Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education at Yeshiva University since 2001.

In 1999, Dr. Schnall was awarded a prestigious J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship. He served as a visiting professor and senior scholar at the Baerwald School of Social Work of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem during the 1999-2001 academic years. He was the first faculty member from Wurzweiler to be given this recognition. As part of this appointment, he also served as a U.S. State Department consultant for non-Governmental Organizations for the Government of Cyprus.

Dr. Schnall has published eight books and more than 100 articles, essays, and reviews dealing with Jewish Affairs, public policy, and management issues. His latest volume, "By the Sweat of Your Brow: Reflections on Work and the Workplace in Classical Jewish Text", was published in September, 2001. His other books include "Beyond the Green Line: Israeli settlements West of the Jordan" and "Cracks in the Wall: Radical Dissent in Contemporary Israeli politics". He is also coeditor of "Crisis and Challenge: The Jewish Family Faces the 21st Century" and "Portrait of the America Jewish Community". Dr. Schnall is also co-developer of the SINGWIN instructional software system used for professional training and evaluation and served as guest editor of a special issue of Tradition, dedicated to Jewish education.

In 1995, Dr. Schnall was selected to serve as visiting scholar at the Hastings Center for the Study of Ethics, Society, and the Professions; he has been a consultant to the New York State Governor’s Office of Employee Relations; Nassau and Suffolk Counties; UJA-Federation; local townships; and numerous hospitals and social service agencies.
