National and Legislative Affairs
WHEREAS THE RABBINICAL COUNCIL OF AMERICA notes that the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution mandates that government neither support nor impede religious activity, the actual interaction between Religion and State has grown significantly and has grown increasingly complex, and
WHEREAS THE RCA RECOGNIZES its obligation to confront social and political issues that raise questions concerning morality, justice and Halachic responsibility, and,
WHEREAS THE RCA ALSO NOTES that the direct interaction of Religion and Government today is further brought about by government’s role in accommodating religious observance,
The Rabbinical Council of America in convention assembled,
RESOLVES that the Committee of National and Legislative Affairs of the RCA should continue to work with agencies and nurture associations with organizations which share its aspirations.
THE RCA CALLS FOR the creation of National Network of Legislative and Public Affairs to facilitate our efforts in communication with public officials on the local and national scenes.
THE RABBINICAL COUNCIL OF AMERICA ALSO URGES its members to take an active role in forming a Public Affairs Committee in their Synagogues which would help establish , or become involved with a Political Action Committee in their area.
