Rabbi Shlomo Weissmann grew up in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, where he benefited from the mentorship of Rabbi Benjamin Yudin and his sensitivity, warmth, and desire to spread his love of Torah and Yiddishkeit. In 2001, he received semicha from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary at Yeshiva University, and a J.D. from Columbia Law School.
In July, 2008, Rabbi Weissmann assumed the position of Director of the
Beth Din of America. Prior to joining the BDA, he worked as a lawyer at Kelly, Drye and Warren LLP. He is delighted that he is now making a meaningful impact on the community through his
avodat hakodesh.
A new member of the RCA, Rabbi Weissmann looks forward to developing close relationships with his fellow chaverim. He also enjoys sharing an office suite with the RCA office.
Rabbi Weissmann feels that nowadays a rabbi's greatest challenge is, transmitting the beauty of the Torah to a modern world that is not always receptive to its perspective.
He and his wife Deborah have two children and live in Passaic, NJ.
