Rabbi Dave Felsenthal has NCSY in his blood. He grew up in Baltimore, Maryland and joined NCSY in 5th grade. Except for a few years learning in Kollel and then working for Aish HaTorah (NCSY does not have its own Rabbinical Program) and the Heritage House (or its own Youth Hostel), he has worked in various capacities for NCSY for almost 25 years in Atlantic Seaboard, New York, Central East, New Jersey and National NCSY.
He is currently the Director of
OU Alumni Connections, Connecting OU Alumni to Great Jewish Programs as They Graduate, which includes
NCSY Alumni. His current project is to find and connect the 30,000 alumni of NCSY who are on secular college campuses with the great Jewish programs on those campuses. In its first year, he is already working with 1,000 of the freshman. He also Directs
NCSY Taglit - Birthright Israel.
"Rabbi Dave", as he prefers to be called, has learned in many great Torah institutions, picking up the unique insights and tools that have led to his success. He started in Beth Tfiloh in Baltimore for elementary school, had chavrusot in Ner Israel Rabbinical College in high school, learned in Yeshiva University, Kerem B’Yavneh and then returned to Ner Israel where he received a Bachelors degree in Talmudic Law along with a
rav u'manhig certificate. He also earned a bachelors degree in computer science and a master's degree in business at the University of Maryland. After marrying Chani Goldsmith, daughter of RCA chaver Rabbi Sheldon Goldsmith, he continued to learn in Ner Israel’s Kollel followed by the Semicha program in Aish HaTorah and the post rabbinical Ohr LaGolah program in Ohr Sameach.
In addition to his rabbinic activities, Rabbi Dave exercises his business acumen as an Executive Director 3 with Melaleuca, The Wellness Company (helping people with both physical and financial wellness) and is a board member of the Association of Jewish Outreach Professionals (AJOP).
He and Chani live with their six children in Passaic, NJ.
