Rabbi Yitzchak Blau is the Rosh Kollel at
Yeshivat Shvilei Hatorah. He also currently teaches at
Midreshet Lindenbaum and for the
WebYeshiva and he writes for
Yeshivat Har Etzion's Virtual Beit Medrash. In addition, he is a member of the editorial board of
Tradition.
Rabbi Blau grew up in Washington Heights and studied at Yeshivat Har Etzion and at Yeshiva University. He has a degree in English literature and a Masters in Medieval Jewish history. He also received semicha from YU's
Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary.
Prior to making aliyah, Rabbi Blau taught for four years at the
Yeshiva of Flatbush High School. After aliyah, he was a rebbe for eleven years at
Yeshivat Hamivtar.
Reflecting on the passion which animates his rabbinic activities, Rabbi Blau says that "I feel strongly abut contributing to the Jewish community both through classroom teaching and personal interaction as well as via writing and publishing. In-depth research and human interaction are mutually fructifying." He has published many articles in periodicals such as Tradition and
The Torah U-Madda Journal. His book on Aggada,
Fresh Fruit and Vintage Wine: The Ethics and Wisdom of the Aggada, is published by Ktav Publishing.
Rabbi Blau lives in Alon Shvut, Israel with his wife, Noa Jeselsohn, and their four children. Noa works as a yoetzet halakha for the
Nishmat hotline.
