Mar 14, 2014 -- Rabbi Yitzchak Blau is the Shana Bet Ram at yeshivat Orayta and also currently teaches at Midreshet Lindenbaum. In addition, he is a member of the editorial board of Tradition.

Rabbi Blau grew up in Washington Heights and studied at Yeshivat Har Etzion and at Yeshiva University. He has a degree in English literature and a Masters in Medieval Jewish history. He also received semicha from YU's Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary.

Prior to making aliyah, Rabbi Blau taught for four years at the Yeshiva of Flatbush High School. After aliyah, he was a rebbe for eleven years at Yeshivat Hamivtar. He has also taught at Yeshivat Shvilei Hatorah and for WebYeshiva.

Reflecting on the passion which animates his rabbinic activities, Rabbi Blau says that "I feel strongly abut contributing to the Jewish community both through classroom teaching and personal interaction as well as via writing and publishing. In-depth research and human interaction are mutually fructifying." He has published many articles in periodicals such as Tradition and The Torah U-Madda Journal. His book on Aggada, Fresh Fruit and Vintage Wine: The Ethics and Wisdom of the Aggada, is published by Ktav Publishing.

Rabbi Blau lives in Alon Shvut, Israel with his wife, Noa Jeselsohn, and their four children. Noa works as a yoetzet halakha for the Nishmat hotline.
