The Rabbinical Council of America and Tradition: A Journal of Orthodox Jewish Thought are pleased to announce that we have opened up our archives to the general public. All the back issues from 1958 through 2012 are now available at http://traditionarchive.org/archives/.
We invite you to read the material there; share it with your congregants, students, and peers; and urge them to take advantage of this treasure house of thought, opinion, and ideas.
As a regular feature, we will bring important articles to your attention. This week, we highlight two significant articles.
Brittany Maynard, who was diagnosed with an incurable brain tumor, went through with her plan to end her life on Saturday at her home in Oregon. Maynard, who spoke publicly about her choice to end her life, revived the debate of assisted suicide in the United States. See Rabbi J. David Bliech's article on "Palliation of Pain" and issues around physician assisted suicide. http://traditionarchive.org/news/article.cfm?id=104926
What is Judaism's attitude towards marital intimacy? Is sexuality to be limited and only valued for the purpose of procreation or does it have larger value? How do we account for the differing attitudes regarding this topic at the time of Hazal, the rishonim and the acharonim? See Rav Aharon Lichtenstein's important analysis of this topic. http://traditionarchive.org/news/_pdfs/lichtenstein.pdf
