RCA on Recent Murderous Attacks Against Innocent Israelis

Policies Headlines
Jan 19, 2016 -- The Rabbinical Council of America expresses its grief and outrage over the continued terrorist attacks perpetrated against innocent Israelis. The latest attacks include the brutal murder of Dafna Meir, 39, who was at home with three of her six children in Otniel when an Arab man entered her house and stabbed her to death, and the assault on Michal Froman, 30, a pregnant mother who was stabbed at a clothing warehouse in Tekoa. Further, we grieve the murder of Rabbi Reuven Biermacher of Aish HaTorah, murdered a few short weeks ago at the Jaffa Gate of the Old City of Jerusalem.

RCA president, Rabbi Shalom Baum, said, "Our hearts go out to the broken families - including the many children - who are left fatherless and motherless as a result of these heinous attacks. We support the continuing efforts of the Israeli government to ensure safety and security for all of its innocent citizens against the daily attempted attacks, many that are foiled by the effective actions of the army and police, averting even more tragedies. A day does not pass without attacks, some thwarted, some unfortunately not."

Rabbi Elazar Muskin, vice president of the RCA, stated, "We call on the United States Department of State to cease the use of language that calls equally on both the Palestinians and Israelis to end violence. The creation of moral equivalence in those statements, besides being repugnant, gives license to the Palestinian Authority to do nothing to cease its provocations and to rein in terrorists."
