Rabbinic Searches & Placement

Jewish Career Development and Placement

The Morris and Gertrude Bienenfeld Department of Jewish Career Development and Placement is part of the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (RIETS®). The department also represents two other major Orthodox communal institutions that broadly share a similar worldview and vision, serving a common population and goals: rabbis of the Rabbinical Council of America (RCA) and the Orthodox Union (OU).

Congregations who are seeking new pulpits from these organizations are all referred to our office. The criteria for the network of rabbis whom we serve is that they must be ordained “musmakhim” of RIETS and/or be members of the RCA.

As a professional placement service agency for the Jewish community, we are eager to serve those congregations, organizations, and communities who are seeking new rabbinic leadership. We are eager to learn about your congregation and community, the challenges you face, and the kind of rabbinic leadership you seek so that we can more efficiently and effectively serve you.

Our Placement Office prides itself in establishing a level and fair playing field for all candidates. All potential rabbinical candidates receive job alerts via email for new positions from our website, assuring that all candidates have an equal opportunity for all newly posted positions. Also, no resume is sent to a potential employer without a candidate’s prior knowledge and consent. In addition, we do not limit the number of candidacies a congregation or organization receives. We believe this empowers the search committee to explore and compare multiple candidates and further instills confidence in our placement office.
